I’m still not completely recovered from a pretty fun long weekend here in Toronto. I spent the last day relaxing at a friend’s house party and got together with Crossfadah to throw down some swanky house tunes.
The mix is still quite rough around the edges and the transitions are not perfect, but it was all done live, without any cue which might explain some of the random scattered errors you might find.
Still, I like the track list we ended up with and I hope you enjoy it too. It’s got a tech-y sort of intro from my side and then it breaks into a club/progressive sound when Crossfadah and took the decks and finally I rounded off the mix with some late night raver specials and a few crowd favorites.

Talk about superduper late responses, mine would probably take the cake :) I just finished some stressfull exams, luckily they went all well (which I wasn’t expecting) and now I can relax and take in the summer vibes :D
I have a rule, if two people have similar taste in music they should be friends haha. With that being said, just wanted to end this reconnection with a song that’s been part of my playlist for the past few weeks.

One of the most beautiful soundtracks I’ve heard. I found this on my computer a few minutes ago and I haven’t been able to stop listening.
I’d previously only heard one other song from Brother Ali but this song has been on repeat for the past half hour.
Signed to Minnesota’s Rhymesayers hip hop label which has a stable of great artists such as veterans like Atmosphere and MF Doom as well as younger ones such as Grieves. He’s currently prepping his album ”Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color“ for release.
One of the YouTube comments said that he sounds like Jay-Z, I’d have to agree, at least on this track.
Here’s the more well known Brother Ali song which I was talking about. It’s good to hear it after a long time. I’m looking forward to checking out this album.

I feel like each time I come to write a new post, I always tend to start with “It’s been a while since I’ve posted”
I hate that my general laziness seeps into posting music too. There’s so much new music out there, which is why I have a lot of respect for music blogs who this on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. (Shout out to Earmilk, Pigeons & Planes and Sunset in the Rearview for being amazing suppliers for all this dope music).
This track has been around the blogosphere for a couple of days but I had to post it. I’ve had it on repeat a number of times, especially late at night because it’s got this sad dreamy sound which I’m a sucker for.
Enjoy the track and I’ll definitely try to reduce the gap in posting nice chunes for y’all.

Everybody’s been complaining about the weather today. It was actually quite hot outside today. The Tim Horton’s near my house isn’t offering toasted items because the temperatures inside are too hot already.
Which is why I recommend you grab something cold to drink, kick back and relax to these chill sounds.
This track was recently featured on Pigeons and Planes and I immediately fell in love with the lush production. It’s produced by Clams Casino, who has produced tracks for Lil B amongst others. I will definitely be keeping my ear out for new tracks from him.

Brooklyn based hip hop crew Blue Belt offer this smooth and old school sounding track. They offer smart rhymes over a great sample, and I believe most of the members are of different ethnicities. I hear some Asia references and there might even be a desi member in there! (“Literary outlet, for a young brown kid, who thought he was without shit, head is in the clouds so his head is clouded”)

Wading through all the new rappers out there, I was hoping some of our old school favorites would release some new tracks. Just for the throwback feel even.
Seems like Nasir Jones and Common Sense had a similar idea in mind. Nas released this over twitter the holiday weekend. No-ID serves up a banger over which both MCs go in hard.
This will be released on Common’s upcoming “The Dreamer, The Believer” album which is coming this fall. Enjoy!
